Congratulations to Darian Yang, a recent graduate from the Chong and Gronenborn groups, on his PNAS paper investigating the flexibility of the viral capsid of HIV, which is crucial in the virus’s reproduction mechanism. Understanding how the HIV virus reproduces in the human body is an important step in developing better therapies.
This paper was based on a project that Darian proposed in his first year in graduate school, and involved both 19F NMR experiments in the Gronenborg lab and weighted ensemble simulations in the Chong lab.
Darian graduated in August 2024 and is currently a postdoc with Kresten Lindorff-Larsen at University of Copenhagen.
