Becoming a UTA is an excellent opportunity to share your knowledge, experience, and passion for chemistry. This role enhances your confidence and leadership skills while enabling you to make a meaningful impact within our department. Many courses and instructors rely on support from Undergraduate Teaching Assistants (UTAs), Undergraduate Teaching Undergraduates (UTUs), and Peer Leaders. While each of these roles has unique distinctions, we’ll refer to them collectively as UTAs for simplicity.
Below is an outline of procedures and opportunities within the chemistry department. If you don't see a program that interests you, feel free to reach out to CHEMUTA@pitt.edu for more information. Our UTA Program is guided by the Department of Chemistry’s standards and practices. For detailed guidelines and application procedures, please refer to the DSAS policy on the "Guidelines for Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Teaching Experience."
