David Muddiman (Ph.D. Chemistry '95) is currently Professor of Chemistry at North Carolina State. He will be awarded the Biemann Medal by the American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) in May of this year at the annual ASMS meeting to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Biemann Medal is a premier award of ASMS and is given to acknowledge outstanding achievement by a young scientist. The award recognizes a significant achievement in basic or applied mass spectrometry made by an individual early in his or her career. The award is presented in honor of Professor Klaus Biemann whose lasting legacy is the training of students and postdoctoral associates over a 40-year period at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
