Bio: Mary Van Vleet, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Spelman College, a premier historically Black women's college located in Atlanta, GA. She obtained her B.S. in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College and her Ph.D. in theoretical chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the advisement of Dr. J.R. Schmidt. Dr. Van Vleet's current research interests are in data-driven, first-principles force field development, where her group works to develop improved models of small molecules and biomolecules for use in accurate molecular simulation.
