Department of Chemistry Ph.D. alumna Katy Nesbitt, the first American woman to referee at the World Cup, will be the featured speaker for the University of Pittsburgh’s 2023 undergraduate commencement ceremony. Katy completed her Ph.D. with Prof. Adrian Michael in 2015. During pursuit of her graduate degree in chemistry, Katy fostered a parallel passion for soccer, training to be a pro referee and officiating games for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
