The Department of Chemistry Welcomes Professor Jessica Anna

June 16, 2023 - 9:45am

The Department of Chemistry is happy to welcome Prof. Jessica Anna as a new member of the faculty here during the upcoming academic year. Prof. Anna is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, earning a B.S. degree in chemistry in 2006. She went on to obtain a Ph.D. at the University of Michigan in 2011 in the lab of Prof. Kevin Kubarych, followed by a period of postdoctoral studies at the University of Toronto with Prof. Greg Scholes. Prof. Anna joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania in 2014, later rising to the rank of Associate Professor of Chemistry with tenure. Over 9 years as an independent faculty member, research in the Anna lab has focused on the application of multidimensional ultrafast spectroscopy to probe the dynamics of photochemical and photophysical processes. Major interests include elucidating the mechanisms of energy transfer in natural photosynthetic systems, model systems, and artificial photocatalysts. To date, Prof. Anna’s accomplishments have been recognized by accolades including an NSF CAREER Award, a DOE Early Career Award, and designation as an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow.

Prof. Anna will be relocating to Pittsburgh in the months ahead and plans to begin in the position of Professor of Chemistry in September 2023. In the meantime, stay connected with Prof. Anna at the links below!
