Alex will be joining our faculty from NC State, where he has shown himself to be a highly creative and prolific researcher in the areas of synthetic chemistry and chemical biology. Alex’s research program has multiple thrusts in small molecule synthesis, medicinal chemistry, oligonucleotide chemistry, photochemistry, protein engineering, and cell biology. His novel approaches to manipulating cellular processes using chemical tools opens the possibility of greatly improving our detailed understanding of biological reaction pathways in vivo and of creating enabling technologies for the discovery of new therapeutics targeted at cancer and infectious disease.
