Ken Jordan and collaborators address in a paper in Science how the shape of H-bonded networks control proton-coupled water activation

February 25, 2010 - 12:43pm

Professor Jordan is part of a collaboration involving researchers at Yale University, Ohio State University, Air Force Research Laboratory, and the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration to understand how the shape of H-bonded networks control proton -coupled water activation. The research team has studied NO+(H2O)n clusters, showing that the presence of as few as three water molecules is required for delocalization of the charge onto the water network. This work was reported in a recent issue of Science 327, 308 (2010).
