The research group of Prof. Alex Deiters developed a generally applicable small molecule switch to activate protein function in mammalian cells. This was applied to the conditional control of enzyme function, protein localization, and gene editing. Their publication “Small-molecule control of protein function through Staudinger reduction” recently appeared in Nature Chemistry and was also highlighted on the Pitt website.
