Dr. Damodaran Krishnan joined the Department of Chemistry in 2005 and currently holds the position of Research Professor and NMR Facility Director. As head of the heavily utilized NMR core facility, Dr. Krisnhan’s responsibilities include maintaining a suite of seven spectrometers, user training, and consultation with department researchers on experimental design and implementation. Keeping the NMR facility operating at its best is a busy job; however, Dr. Krishnan finds time for important research and service contributions as well. While at Pitt, he has built a vibrant independent research program focused on the application of NMR spectroscopy to interdisciplinary areas of science, such as the behavior of ionic liquids [for a recent review, see: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.pnmrs.2021.12.001]. In addition, Dr. Krishnan regularly engages in service supporting the broader scientific community through teaching workshops and courses on NMR, most recently at PITTCON 2023 in March.
