The Islam group has received a research grant from NSF on the proposal entitled “Development of Activity-Based Probes for Genome-Modifying Enzymes”. This multidisciplinary program involves synthetic nucleic acid chemistry, biochemistry, proteomics, bioinformatics and cell biology, and aims to uncover novel chromatin-modifying enzymes that have remained elusive to the traditional approaches. The grant will also support diverse educational and outreach activities.
