Prof. Kabirul Islam Received NIH Grant

August 5, 2020 - 9:47am

The Islam group has received a $1.2M R01 grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The project will study how lysine methylation and demethylation in cellular proteins regulate signaling pathways in response to developmental and metabolic cues. The group, in collaboration with Prof. Renã Robinson at the Vanderbilt University, will develop an integrated chemical biology approach encompassing organic synthesis, protein engineering, quantitative proteomics, structural and cell biology. The interdisciplinary research setting will provide a fertile training ground for graduate and undergraduate students in biomedical sciences.
