Two One-Year Term Positions - HOPE COLLEGE - Holland, MI

Position Description:
The Hope College Chemistry Department (www.hope.edu/academic/chemistry/) invites applications for two one-year term positions. Each teaching position is full-time (ca. 12 contact hours/wk) on a 9 month contract to begin August 2022. The positions are expected to be offered at the Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor level depending on qualifications. Candidates should either have completed a Ph.D. in chemistry by July 2022 (Visiting Assistant Professor), or have a masters degree in chemistry with college chemistry teaching experience as the “instructor of record” for the course (Visiting Instructor).


The positions will include teaching responsibilities in the two-semester Physical or Organic Chemistry classroom and laboratory sequence as appropriate with qualifications. Secondary assignments may be possible in the candidate’s specific specialty or in non-majors or general chemistry courses.

About The Chemistry Department:
The department is a flagship program of the College and Division of Natural & Applied Science. A wide range of modern instrumentation and state-of-the-art facilities are available for teaching and research in the Schaap Science Center which opened in 2003. The Chemistry Department graduates approximately forty majors annually among a variety of degree tracks. The department is approved by the American Chemical Society and offers both ACS and (jointly with the Biology Department) ASBMB certified degrees. We have recently been awarded a record 9th consecutive Beckman Scholars Program award from the Arnold & Mabel Beckman Foundation, and have been a nationally recognized leader in authentic student-faculty collaborative research for nearly a century.
