Postdoc - University of South Carolina

A postdoctoral fellow position at the University of South Carolina is available for research work on cationic antimicrobial polymers. The position involves research projects on facial amphiphilic polymers and/or metallopolymer-antibiotic bioconjugates (relevant publications: Nat. Commun. 2018, 9, 5231; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2014, 136, 4873).


Qualifications: Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science, the person should have a good synthetic and analytical skill as well as knowledge in working on cell culture in a biomedical lab.


Duties and Expectations: This position requires the following: (1) polymer chemistry backgrounds with skills in synthesis; (2) knowledge of antimicrobial and cytotoxicity tests; (3) required to collaborate with research groups at medical school; (4) ability to handle multiple tasks; (5) collegiality to work in a team. It is expected that the postdoctoral fellow will follow vigorous safety practice, conduct research, participate laboratory management, write reports on funded projects, publish results in scientific journals and present results in scientific conferences.
