This award, funded by the National Science Foundation Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences, will support research in the Deiters lab aimed at using light to achieve spatial and temporal specificity in the activation of kinases in cells. With this approach it will be possible to dissect the activity of the cellular sub-networks controlled by these kinases and to elucidate cross-talk and feedback mechanisms between signaling pathways.
