The 2013 High School Chemistry Olympics was held on May 1 in the Chevron Science Center.

On May 1, 2013, our Department, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh American Chemical Society Education Group, hosted the 33rd Annual High School Chemistry Olympics.  Over 300 students and their teachers from 27 high schools in the tri-state area competed against each other in a laboratory setting.    The students’ results were evaluated by local chemistry educators and prizes were awarded in three categories. Category I is for students who completed one year of chemistry; Category II is for students with two years of chemistry; and Category III is for students in organic chemistry.  The students and teachers also enjoyed lunch and attended lectures given by our faculty.  Congratulations to all the participants!   The 2013 winning high schools are listed below.   Category I First Place: Upper St. Clair High School Second Place: Baldwin High School Third Place: Hollidaysburg Area High School Fourth Place: Central Catholic High School Fifth Place: Mt.
