Stephen Groskreutz (Weber group) has been awarded an NSF 2013 Graduate Research Fellowship.

April 11, 2013 - 5:30am

Steve Groskreutz has been awarded a 2013 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship for his research proposal, Making Better Measurements: Development of Fast Capillary Multi-Dimensional Liquid Chromatography for the Analysis of Small Volume Samples. The objective of this research is to develop a highly sensitive and selective LC method for high speed analyses of target analytes in complex mixtures. Development of a two-dimensional instrument equipped with short capillary columns packed with small diameter particles will rely heavily on temperature not only to increase chromatographic speed in both dimensions but control analyte retention and sample modulation. The instrument is designed to be widely applicable with initial applications geared towards rapid small volume, sample limited applications like online in vivo neurotransmitter analyses of nL samples with 15 s temporal resolution. The National Science Foundation provides fellowships to individuals selected early in their careers based on their demonstrated potential for significant achievements in science and engineering.  Link.
