NSF MRI Grant for $450K awarded to Department of Computational and Systems Biology (PI, Carlos Camacho) and Center for Simulation and Modeling (SaM) (Co-PI Lillian Chong).

September 20, 2012 - 11:00am

Led by PI, Carlos Camacho, Department of Computational and Systems Biology and co-PI, Lillian Chong, Department of Chemistry, the Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) grant represents a joint effort between the Center for Simulation and Modeling (SaM) and the Department of Computational and Systems Biology at the University of Pittsburgh. SaM played a pivotal role in bringing together a team of researchers from the Departments of Computational Biology, Chemistry, and Biological Sciences for the proposal. The computing equipment acquired through the grant will be incorporated into the Frank computing cluster housed at CSSD. This infrastructure will catalyze research and educational activities in the area of computational modeling and simulations of biological systems and processes.  (taken from the SaM website)
