The University of Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Chemical Society Receives Outstanding Award.

October 28, 2011 - 10:32am

The American Chemical Society (ACS) student chapter at the University of Pittsburgh has been selected to receive Outstanding Award for its activities conducted during the 2010-11 academic year. For the 2010-11 academic year, over 330 reports were submitted and The Society Committee on Education presented 36 Outstanding, 86 Commendable, and 107 Honorable mention awards. Lists of award winning chapters will be published in Chemical &Engineering News and in inChemistry, the student member magazine. The award winning chapters will also be honored at the 243st ACS National Meeting in San Diego, CA on Sunday, March 25, 2012. The letter we've received from the ACS mentioned that Professor George Bandik, faculty advisor of the chapter, deserves special commendation. Few faculty members are willing to make the great commitment of time and energy that a successful chapter requires. Professor Bandik’s efforts certainly represent the best in undergraduate science education and mentoring around the country. We extend our warmest congratulations to the students and Professor Bandik for setting such a fine example for other chapters and being exemplary chemistry ambassadors!
