The 2010 High School Chemistry Olympics

May 11, 2010 - 9:19am

On May 5, 2010, our Department, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh American Chemical Society Education Group, hosted the 31st Annual High School Chemistry Olympics.  Over 300 students and their teachers from 28 high schools in the tri-state area competed against each other in a laboratory setting.  The students’ results were evaluated by local chemistry educators and prizes were awarded in three categories;  Category I for students who completed one year of chemistry, Category II for students with two years of chemistry, and Category III for students in organic chemistry.  The students and teachers also enjoyed lunch and attended lectures given by our faculty.  Congratulations to all the participants!   The 2010 winning high schools (see link).
