The Discipline-Based Science Education Research Center (dB-SERC) was created to impact and strengthen teaching in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences' nine natural science departments. dB-SERC works with faculty members to develop and implement ways of teaching courses that are grounded in research on teaching and learning. The Center is under the leadership of founding director Chandralekha Singh (Professor of Physics and Astronomy). Sean's proposal, "Expanding and assessing simulations in POGIL activities: Using smart-phones, tablets, and laptops to aid student learning in Physical Chemistry," has been recommended for funding. The course transformation award will allow Sean to assess how the course materials that he has developed for his Physical Chemistry 2 course help students learn.
