I am Gregory Martin and am the Engineering Team Captain for recruiting at PItt for ExxonMobil. I’m also the Team Captain at CMU since 1999. When we were seeking to expand the schools we visit, I was successful in having Pitt added to the ExxonMobil list. I’m a Pittsburgh native and also happen to be an alumnus of CMU – Chemical Engineering ’77. Since I became Pitt Team Captain in 2007, my team and I have been very successful placing Pitt graduates into ExxonMobil and have had 33 candidates accept offers. While most of these are typically one of the traditional 5 engineering disciplines, with most being Chem Es and Mech Es, we sometimes have opportunities for individuals with other backgrounds in the math and sciences.
This year, in addition to the need for engineers, we have a specific need for a PhD candidate or exceptionally talented MS candidate with a background in Physical Chemistry. Ideally they’d have skills in at least 2 of the following areas:
Alternately I’d also consider an Analytic Chemist with a strong separation science and organic background.
The position would be with our Measurement and Automation area in ExxonMobil Engineering in Fairfax, VA. MS candidates will need the permanent right to work in the US, while we will consider international students who are doctoral candidates.
If you are aware of a student who will be graduating within the next year, please forward this to them. I will have a booth at the Career Fair in the Petersen Center on September 25th, and will be interviewing candidates at Pitt through Career Services on October 9 & 10. I would encourage candidates with the right skill set to visit our booth at the career fair, introduce themselves to me, talk about the opportunity, and find out how to register for an on campus interview.
