SIGNATURE AREA: ADVANCED MATERIALS FOR SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE
Missouri University of Science and Technology is seeking highly qualified, motivated faculty members in the interdisciplinary signature area of Advanced Materials for Sustainable Infrastructure. As part of a focused hiring campaign in this signature area, Missouri S&T invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. The opening is anticipated to be filled at the assistant professor level, however, appointment at the associate professor level will also be considered. The appointment is anticipated to begin in Fall 2016.
The priority hiring areas are:
Advanced Construction Chemicals — Areas of particular interest include the synthesis and development of polymeric admixtures and coatings with respect to the chemistry of construction materials, including binder-admixture interaction.
Novel Sustainable Materials — Disciplines of particular interest include: design of novel construction and rehabilitation materials with emphasis on durability and deterioration of construction materials.
Composite Design for Infrastructure Applications — Disciplines of interest include: multi-scale/multi-physics computational models for novel construction materials, including polymers, metals, ceramics, cementitious systems and fiber-reinforced polymer composites; and modeling of cracking and failure of infrastructure systems and hybrid structures under static, thermal, dynamic, high strain rate and fatigue loading.
Depending on the area of focus, candidates are expected to have a strong background in a number of the following areas: polymer science, polymer material interface science, cement-admixture interaction, physical chemistry, microstructure evaluation, nanotechnology, construction materials science and engineering, and multi-scale constitutive modeling.
Specific information regarding the three faculty positions is available at: signature.mst.edu under the link for Advanced Materials for Sustainable Infrastructure. Review of applications will begin on Dec. 1, 2015 and applications will be accepted and reviewed until the positions are filled.
Missouri S&T is an Equal Opportunity/Equal Access/Affirmative Action employer that is fully committed to achieving a diverse faculty and staff and does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, genetic information, disability, or protected veteran status..
