Postdoctoral Research Positions

From – DOE – Pittsburgh

I am seeking several post docs to help with our research on separation and determination of trace rare earth elements and compounds in coal related solids and liquids. Much of our previous research has been on trace contaminant (mercury, arsenic, selenium, phosphorus, cadmium and antimony), oxygen and carbon dioxide capture from gas streams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in separation techniques, determination of trace species in solids, environmental research, adsorption, electrochemistry, photochemistry, and catalysis. Three techniques developed in our labs have been recently licensed to industry for commercial development. Our PG (palladium) and Thief (carbon) sorbents for trace contaminant capture were recently the recipients of the R&D 100 awards, and our book “Mercury Control for Coal-Derived Gas Streams” was published in 2015.
